Silverlight is a new Microsoft technology to radically enhance the UI experience. Silverlight provides several huge benefits, like a vector-graphics API, programming in a compiled .Net language (like C# or VB), a rich object model, and finally solving the cross-browser problem. We will provide a general overview of Silverlight, with an emphasis on common gotchas and where to learn more.

Tim Stall is a Software Architect at Paylocity. He has a MCAD.Net, has written several articles for .Net Developer's Journal and online journals, has presented to the Chicago .Net User’s Group, and has created two open-source projects on CodePlex. One of those projects was Silverlight TruckWars (created in 1.1 Alpha, and migrated to the 2.0 Beta 1.0), a real-time strategy game which is open-sourced on CodePlex and listed in the Silverlight Gallery.
